Sports massage

Sports massage is popular for recovery and rehabilitation amongst amateur and professional sports people, but can also benefit the general public with minor injuries or niggles or anyone with tight muscles arising from day-to-day stress and poor posture, such as office workers or parents of young children.

This treatment is an effective way of treating irritated or stuck musculoskeletal structures such as joints, muscles and fascia and a great way to prevent injuries that can happen due to imbalance in muscle function.

During a session, I assess the client’s ability to move and stabilise their body. This can include visual assessment, manual muscle testing, range of motion testing and gait analysis. Based on my findings and your needs I will use different techniques (e.g. deep tissue strokes, myofascial release, soft tissue release, stretches, trigger point therapy).

Depending on the client’s issues, the treatment plan can involve kinesio taping. This is a therapeutic intervention using a skin-friendly tape to alleviate pain, provide extra support and reduce inflammation in the body. The tape applied by the therapist facilitates lymphatic flow in the affected interstitial space under the skin.
