Neuro corrective therapy

Neuro corrective therapy seeks to uncover the root cause of dysfunction and reset the brain’s software to bring permanent positive change.

Our natural condition is health. A healthy baby uses its body perfectly, but life happens and interferes with innate functional patterns.

When a muscle fails to perform as it should – whether through surgery, injury, dysfunctional movement or inactivity - the brain opens to alternative pathways, and deploys other muscles to compensate. This is the source of the brain’s remarkable ability to cope with trauma and failure. It works for a time but eventually will lead to problems, and as we age these coping mechanisms become increasingly complicated - until they gradually start to fail. This can lead to discomfort, pain and instability.

Neuro corrective therapy seeks to uncover the root cause of dysfunction and reset the brain’s software to bring permanent positive change. Through this work, complex compensation patterns built by the brain, often over decades, can be traced and corrected, giving the body strength, mobility and stability back, increasing body awareness and mindfulness of everyday movements. The sessions require active participation from the client. After going through the client’s medical history in detail we will perform different assessments of general stability and muscle function.

These will help us identify problem areas, before zooming in to discover specific dysfunctional patterns, using manual muscle testing and visual aids. Corrections happen by using release and activation exercises and/or applying different stimuli to affected nerve endings.

In case imbalance in muscle function has its roots in imbalance in the functioning of organs, I may use dry cupping and/or acupressure on reflex zones of the foot, hand or ear to stimulate the affected organs indirectly. Cupping is an ancient technique that has been used for thousands of years in Chinese and Egyptian medicine. During a cupping session, I would place round silicone cups directly on the client’s skin. The cups are manually pumped to create a vacuum which then exerts localised suction on the area. They are then left for several minutes. The suction created by the cup encourages blood flow— this increased circulation may promote healing and reduce pain, and stimulate organs’ function. There may be temporary side effects of bruising and slight skin irritation.
